What it is

What website maintenance services cover

A website is software, and software ages. WordPress, plugins, themes, store apps and the server underneath all release updates, many of them security fixes. Skip them and the site slows down, breaks after an automatic update or becomes an easy target. Website maintenance keeps all of it current and tested, so problems are caught on a staging copy, not by your customers.

Maintenance also covers the everyday changes a business site needs: a new team member, updated prices, a seasonal banner, a new service page or a form that stopped sending. Instead of finding a developer each time, you send the request to a team that already knows how the site is built. We size the plan to your site, from a simple brochure site to a busy online store.

Signs your site needs a care plan

  • Plugin and software updates have piled up
  • Nobody is sure when the last backup ran
  • Small text changes take weeks to happen
  • The site went down and a customer told you
  • Your original developer has moved on

In depth

Website maintenance in depth

Three parts of website care that decide whether problems are caught early or found by customers.

Updates without surprises

Updates are where most avoidable breakages happen: a plugin changes how it works, a theme clashes with a new WordPress version, or a payment app changes its checkout. We apply updates to a staging copy first, click through the pages and forms that matter most, then roll them out to the live site with a fresh backup in place. If something still goes wrong, the site goes back to the last good version while we fix the cause.

Security monitoring and backups

Most attacks on small business sites are automated, aimed at outdated plugins and weak logins. We keep software current, limit login attempts, add two-factor sign-in for admin accounts, scan for malware and watch for unexpected file changes. Backups run automatically and are stored away from the server, so even a hacked or failed server can be restored. We test restores too, because a backup that has never been restored is only a hope.

Content changes and small improvements

A site that never changes slowly goes stale. Your care plan sets how much change work is included, such as new pages, updated text and images, new forms or small design tweaks, and we tell you before anything goes beyond it. Because the same team also handles SEO, ads and conversion work, we point out quick wins we spot along the way, such as a slow page, a broken link or a form that loses leads.

How it works

How our website maintenance works

A clear start, then steady care, with a progress update every week and a monthly report.

    Site audit

Software versions, plugins, backups, security, speed and hosting reviewed, with a care plan and a price.

  2. Step 02

    Onboarding

Access, a staging copy, backups and monitoring set up, with urgent fixes handled first.

  3. Step 03

    Ongoing care

Updates, scans, uptime checks and content requests handled as part of the plan.

  4. Step 04

    Review

A monthly report on what was done, with recommendations for the month ahead.

FAQ

Questions about website maintenance, answered

What do website maintenance services include?

Software and plugin updates, automatic backups, security monitoring, uptime and speed checks, content changes and a monthly report. Our website maintenance services are sized to how much your site changes.

Does a Shopify or Webflow site need maintenance?

Less than WordPress, because the platform handles the server and core updates. You still need apps and integrations checked, content kept current, forms and tracking tested, and someone to call when something breaks.

Can you maintain a site another agency built?

Usually, yes. We start with an audit, tell you plainly what condition the site is in and what needs fixing first, then propose a care plan.

What happens if the site is hacked or goes down?

Monitoring alerts us, we restore the site from a clean backup where needed, find and close the way in, then explain what happened and what we changed.

Who owns the website?

You do. The domain, hosting and accounts stay in your name, and the code and designs are yours once the work is paid in full.
